Wishes for 2025

My brilliant entrepreneur friend, Gina Schaefer, founder of A Few Cool Hardware Stores, reminds us that there is no shame in asking the universe for what we need! And my visionary Business Coaching friend, Steve Kantor, emphasizes in his LifeBushido work that there is nothing better than putting things in writing to force us to better understand what those needs are.

Looking forward to 2025, therefore, my ask of you (yes YOU!) - as someone supportive of sustainable local & regional economic development - is for you to share with ARC your connections to communities that would benefit from Community Visioning and to foundations and anchor institutions which may be interested to support community-driven development. The Alliance for Regional Cooperation maintains that resource & people-sensitive, circular community economic development is sustainable development. Please help fund ARC's ongoing work by making a contribution today.

Happy New World! -- Jim Schulman

ARC's Ambitions for 2025:

  • To partner with local and regional governments, other non-profit organizations, and community anchor institutions to undertake Community Visioning in Washington, DC Metro area communities, and beyond
  • To receive recognition in the press for ARC's work promoting community-ownership
  • To educate local governments on the power of community-owned and cooperative economic development
  • To recruit new Board Members interested in the challenge of building much more equitable circular regional economies

The late EM Risse worked and wrote extensively about human settlement patterns and many critical physical planning issues of our age, especially concerning land use. He laid out his ideas at his comprehensive website, EMRisse.com. ARC supports the preservation of his powerful perspectives by keeping this website alive since his passing.

Risse distilled much of his thousands of pages of thinking and writing into a relatively short volume called The Little Book, which, for the time being, you can still access without charge at: https://www.emrisse.com/ckfinder/userfiles/files/18%20C%2015%20OCT%20TLB%20PROL%204%20CHAP%

I encourage anyone who cares about the survival of humanity and/or planet Earth to read The Little Book and consider contributing to ARC's effort to keep Risse's website live online!: See the upper right-hand corner on ARC's website, here: https://arcdmv.org/
